Since joining Highline College in 2017, I have steadily refined my approach to adapt to our changing world while ensuring solid academic standards.

As an avid language learner myself (currently exploring Korean and Vietnamese), I value real-world communication skills grounded in a systematic framework for grammar, while also delving into the cultural and cognitive dimensions of language.

Originally from Tokyo, my international experience spans teaching Japanese and English across academic and corporate settings in both the U.S. and Japan. This includes instructing at my alma maters: the University of Washington and Sophia University (Jochi University). Additionally, my work as a global business interpreter and consultant directly informs my teaching.

I truly love engaging with students from all walks of life, and enjoy drawing inspiration from my students’ unique experiences and cultural trends (from music and media to anime) into the learning environment.
