I was born in Watertown, WI. I started high school in Watertown and graduated in Nykoping, Sweden. My Bachelor’s degree is from Augustana College, in Rock Island, IL where I majored in Scandinavian Studies, Speech Communications, and Secondary Education. After school, I gained some experience teaching a number of things from creative drama to remedial reading in jr high and high schools in a couple different states. After moving to Kansas, I worked as a trainer on Panasonic office equipment. Then after moving to South Dakota, I worked at Best Buy as a customer service rep, operations supervisor and merchandise manager. I was also chosen as a corporate trainer for merchandising in new stores. I left Best Buy in late 2001 and moved to Seattle. I started working for Highline College in January of 2002 as a classroom assistant. I went back to school and got my M.Ed. in Adult Education with an emphasis in ESL from Western Washington. I started doing new student orientations for Highline in 2003 and helped the student intake process evolve through the years. I’ve taught many levels of ESL, and a community based Intro to Business Technology IBEST class for Highline. I’ve taught ESL and a customer service class at South Seattle College. I taught customer service classes, GED, and wrote a customer service curriculum for Tacoma Community College. Currently I work for both Highline College and South Seattle College teaching off campus, multi-level ESL classes for immigrants and refugees. I love my students! This is a wonderful job!
In case you are wondering, I consider myself a movie-holic, and I also love animals. The pup you see me with is my "grand-dog," Manny.
