Greetings, My name is Professor Aaron Modica. I am a Husband, son, uncle to wonderful nieces, and a snowboarder who taught 7 years at Mt Rose Resort in Lake Tahoe. I also like farming during the summers with my family down south. I'm from Oakland, CA and graduated from the University of Washington and University of Nevada, Reno with advanced degrees in Sociology and Education. I've lived in the Seattle Area since 2009.
I have a deep passion for learning about how humans experience and enjoy teaching Introduction to Sociology; American Diversity; and Social Problems as these classes provide opportunities for me to explore many different interesting issues with students. In addition to my teaching duties I enjoy mentoring students, working with Umoja Scholars student learning community on campus, and serving students in other aspects on campus. I enjoy working with community based organizations as well that focus on the educational success and experiences of Black males in K-12 educational systems.
What matters most to me in terms of being a faculty member is to help students be successful in college and make the most of it to achieve your goals. In addition to my professional roles, I have magnificent wife who works as a educator and historian at a nearby university.
