Audra Lord holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and a Master of Arts in Linguistics, both from Oakland University in her home state of Michigan. Previously, Audra was the Academic Director of an English language institute in Seattle, where she designed curricula, supported and trained teachers, and advised students from a diverse spectrum of backgrounds, cultures, and goals. Other career highlights include serving as a volunteer English teacher in Ayutthaya, Thailand; piloting a new project-based curriculum as an Associate Instructor in Columbia University’s American Language Program; and teaching ESOL to her fellow immigrants in Wellington, New Zealand.
At Highline, Audra has also served students as a Pathway Advisor and as Interim Director of the Advising Center.
In her free time, Audra enjoys playwriting, cooking, and playing the ukulele. She loves traveling and language learning in equal measure and speaks French (confidently) and Spanish (not so confidently). Audra holds a NZ Permanent Resident visa and can tell you exactly where the Hobbits live.
