My name is Ahmed Fahad, and I teach in the English Language, Career and Academic Prep (ELCAP) department at Highline College. As a former English learner and immigrant myself, I bring deep empathy and personal connection to the work I do with adult multilingual students. I’m passionate about creating an inclusive, engaging classroom where students feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow.
I have over 15 years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in the U.S. and abroad. I’ve taught adult learners in community colleges, intensive English programs, and university language centers. In addition to ESL, I’ve taught undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics and applied linguistics, such as second language acquisition, discourse analysis, and research writing. I also support international faculty and graduate students with academic writing and publishing. My teaching is rooted in culturally responsive practices, and I aim to make reading and writing relevant, meaningful, and accessible. I believe in helping students build confidence in their voices while preparing them for academic and professional success. Outside the classroom, I’m active in curriculum development and research focused on language, identity, and educational equity. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my students in their learning journey and to continually learn from them as well.
