I am a full-time faculty member in the English Language, Career, and Academic Prep (ELCAP) department, specializing in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

I was born and raised in Shanghai, China, where I attended college and earned a bachelor's degree in English literature. I then taught English at a university before moving to the United States in 1986 to further my studies. I graduated from the University of Washington with both a master's and a doctoral degree in Education, specializing in TESOL, Curriculum & Instruction, and Reading. Since 1993, I have taught Academic Reading and ESOL at various colleges. I have also taught at Seattle University, training students who aspire to become ESOL teachers. I began my career at Highline College in 1997, and I have been teaching college-level Academic Reading and ESOL ever since.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, cooking, and traveling around the world. I am passionate about teaching, and my goal is to help all of my students achieve their goals.
