Pawlos Okubagzi, MS, RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS, RPFT

I began my academic journey in business and economics, earning a degree in the field, but soon realized I was most fulfilled by work that combined service to others with continuous learning. This realization inspired me to pursue healthcare, where I could connect with patients in meaningful ways while constantly building knowledge and skills.

In 2004, I completed the Respiratory Care program at Highline College and began working at Harborview Medical Center as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Over the years, I have received awards recognizing my dedication to academic excellence, patient care, and patient safety. My bedside experiences deepened my commitment to safe, high-quality care and sparked a passion for teaching. To further this calling, I earned a master’s degree in respiratory therapy with a focus on therapeutics and education.

Since 2016, I have served as faculty in Highline College’s Respiratory Care program, balancing full-time teaching with ongoing per diem practice at Harborview. In the classroom, I emphasize collaborative learning enriched by evidence-based practice and real-world clinical applications. My teaching philosophy centers on motivation, coaching, and sound judgment to help students grow into compassionate, skilled professionals. I also value working with my colleagues, who are both supportive and a joy to collaborate with.

Outside of work, I enjoy listening to music and riding bike.
