Hello everyone! My name is Mya Kim (he/him), and I am a Running Start Academic Advisor for Highline College. I graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Geography.

I am passionate about working with students and making opportunities more accessible. Before joining Highline, I worked with the University of Washington Tacoma as an Admissions Advisor. At UW Tacoma, I supported students in understanding the next steps of admissions with the mindset of being a first-generation college student myself. Before my work with UW Tacoma, I spent about seven years with Upward Bound in various roles, supporting students as they explored their post-high school options. Across all of these experiences, my priority has been to create safe, supportive, and equitable spaces where students feel confident asking questions and taking charge of their academic journey. My goal is always to foster an environment that promotes student success and empowerment.

Outside of work, I’m a big foodie and love discovering new restaurants. I also enjoy watching movies and anime, playing trivia, traveling, and just relaxing at home.
