Justin spent 8 years in hospitality operations prior to moving to academia. He began his career in Food & Beverage operations, moved into hotel operations, and was an Assistant General Manager with Hilton until 2006. His academic institutions include University of Houston, University of Guelph in Toronto, Texas A&M University, and Highline College. He maintains an academic and applied focus in his research and outreach by serving as an Editor for Anatolia, being a Global Director for HFTP (Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals), and working with local industry partners through grants and financed projects such as Starbucks, Food Innovation Network, Port of Seattle (i.e. SeaTac Airport), and many more. His areas of emphasis currently include market-based socio-cultural conservation and negotiation theory. His research is highlighted by projects he has completed in South Korea, Peru, Canada, USA, Ireland, Brazil, Bolivia, Kenya, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Montenegro, and more.
